Our organic garden is a Demonstration Garden of the UC
Master Gardeners of Santa Clara County. Growing organic food
is central to our mission and philosophy of revering and preserving
the earth, as organic practices are healthier for people and the
soil. The UC Master Gardeners visit every Thursday to tend the garden
and harvest fruit and vegetables for our Executive Chef, Tom Fernandez.
Buzzz...
In April of 2007, we welcomed some new "guests" to our retreat:
honeybees. The honeybee hives will help the honeybee population, which
is threatened by mites and Sudden Colony Collapse, and will also help
pollinate our organic garden. The bees have already found the garden
and are happily buzzing around doing their job. Please leave the bees
in peace, by staying at least 20 feet away from the beehives.
In order to avoid munching by
the deer from above and the gophers from below, our garden was established
in a layer of 3-½ feet
of dirt in our former tennis court. |
