Spring
Appeal Underway
We have just launched our Spring Appeal,
with a goal of raising $78,800. Our pipelline incurred
damages from two landslides this past winter, and we must remediate
the damages before next winter's rains come. Your contribution will
go towards the required construction, and help ensure the
integrity of our potable water system.
Mother's
Day Brunch

Thank you to all who attended our
7th Annual Mother's Day Brunch this past Sunday, May 12. Please check
out our Mother's
Day Brunch 2013 Photo Album. It was a beautiful day to celebrate the important women in our lives.
Center
Completely Non-Smoking 6/1
After careful consideration, Presentation
Center will become a full non-smoking facility on June 1, 2013.
We made our decision based on
several factors:
- County of Santa Clara’s current smoking ordinance
requiring smoking be at least 30 ft. from any
door or window
- Our location in a mountainous fire zone area — improperly disposed
cigarette butts present a fire hazard
- Commitment to our Environmental
Mission
- Our designation as a Certified Wildlife
Habitat by the National
Wildlife Federation — local
wildlife who may choke trying to eat cigarette butts and filters,
die from a digestion system blocked by filters, or become poisoned
from toxic substances.
- An increasing number of guests reporting health problems
from smoke — the health effects of cigarette smoke,
including secondary smoke, on people are well documented
- Increased Facilities Dept. workload to clean up
after smokers
We will appreciate
your partnership in helping us to maintain a smoke free environment
for all. We invite you to contact our
with any
questions or concerns you may have about this new policy.
Spring
Surprise
— Newborn Fawn
Spring is certainly in full swing. We have a new member of the local
deer population A baby deer born in the upper meadow near the beehives!
He was reported to be standing all by himself within about 12 hours
of his birth. He will be about three weeks old now. He was
noticed by our Facilities Manager, who had a camera with him while
doing property rounds! Mom stood nearby on full alert while the photos
were being snapped. |
